Overheard at the meeting:
“It’s been so long since I wore a shirt & tie that I almost forgot how to tie my tie.” It’s been almost two years since I wore hard soled shoes, & my feet are killing me.”
Aaron Barlow, Donor Relations Territory Manager, Canadian Blood Services was the speaker at the first “in-person” meeting since October, 2021. Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is a non-profit organization provides lifesaving products and services in transfusion and transplantation for Canadian patients, and safeguards Canada’s systems of life essentials in blood, plasma, stem cells, organs and tissues. They rely entirely on donations. Fifty percent of Canadians are eligible to donate but only 4% do!Aaron asked each of us to consider making a donation. To encourage our participation Aaron registered our Club under their “Partners for Life” Program. This will allow each of us to donate as part of the Regina Rotary team. Saturday May 14th has been tentatively reserved for Rotarians.
Dr. Carson told us that during his career in labour and delivery 5 women in his care survived thanks to receiving life saving blood donations.
