COCHRANE HIGH SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP COMPLETED

 

 

The long-time Rotary partnership with Cochrane High School was completed with the final cheque presentation to Principal Jason Coleman on Monday, February 23, 2015.

 

The Regina Rotary Club partnership with Cochrane High School goes back to 1991 when a partnership agreement was signed under the old “Partnership in Education” program.

 

Cochrane High School was an alternative secondary school that offered a four year instructional program that integrated academic instruction, personal development and vocational preparation.  Staff worked with students to help them acquire the skills, attitudes and effort necessary for employment upon graduation from grade 12.

   

For the past 24 years, the Regina Rotary Club has donated over $100,000  for the purchase of equipment and supplies for the shops and sports programs, and provided funds to assist students in need so that they could get to school each day.

 

In the 2012/2013 school year the grade 9 program was phased out as Cochrane transformed into Campus Regina Public.  Vocational classes were opened up to all grade 11 & 12 students in Regina Public high schools.  This resulted in closing enrolment to all new students of Cochrane, and the current students would continue their programs until June 2015 when the last grade 12 student would graduate.
