Carol Festival raises $18,000 for charities

Carol Festival Chair Ian Toms presented cheques for $6,000 each to Salvation Army, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, and Carmichael Outreach.

Major Al Hoeft accepted the cheque on behalf of Salvation Army and said that our donation will help fill Christmas Hampers for 1,900 families this season. Al is a 30 year Rotarian (& a Regina native). He is thrilled to re-connect with the Carol festival which he first sang at as a youngster about 50 years ago.

Joe Miller spoke of the large contribution made by our club to the new Hope Centre at Souls Harbour Rescue Mission. Since inception they have served over 3 million meals and provided 100,000 nights of shelter. Their addictions program for women is seeing the successful completion of education for many women. Our donation helps Souls Harbour Rescue Mission make big life changes.

Aurora Marinari accepted the cheque for Carmichael Outreach. She was a Rotary Youth Exchange student when in high school in Weyburn. Carmichael’s December programs include free photos with Santa and this Thursday’s Christmas meal. Our donation will cover their food security program for 3 weeks.
