Those members who signed up were treated to a delicious Irish meal delivered by Legacy Catering.
Our musician, Gilda Treleaven-Graham entertained us with several Irish tunes. There was lots of wearin’ of the green and a Kilkenny or Guinness or two were spotted.
Grant Wasnik, chair of the meeting, had several Irish trivia questions and a few were even answered correctly.
Fred Wagman and Bob Terichow tripped down memory lane with tales of the antics of the Irish Club at Rotary meetings long ago. Each year the Irish Club would meet weekly to paint a Patch of Green canvas which was auctioned off and raised a significant amount of money for the club. Guinness and Jameson attended those meetings faithfully.

Joanna Alexander and her late husband Rotarian Doug were touring Ireland when they were accosted by a stranger who asked whether they were Protestant or Catholic. Not knowing what trouble their answer might bring, they proudly answered CANADIAN!
Ian Toms spoke about his wife Leslie’s grandmother who emmigrated from Northern Ireland shortly after the war and settled in Toronto. She endured a life of hard work. One of her employers was Mr. Gundy of the Wood Gundy investment firm who, upon learning of her retirement due to ill health continued to pay her salary for the rest of her life.
