Peace Pole Replaced in 2023

The four Rotary Clubs in Regina gathered in Rotary Park on Tuesday, August 29 2023 for the dedication of the new Peace Pole. His Honour Russ Mirasty, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, attended the event and delivered remarks. Rotarians planted the original Pole in 2000, but it had fallen into a state of disrepair and had to be replaced. The Peace Pole Project was started in Japan in 1955, in response to the destruction caused by World War II and the atomic bombs which fell on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Recognized as an international sign of peace, each Peace Pole bears the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in different languages on each of its sides. Regina’s Peace Pole is inscribed in English, French and Plains Cree. "Regina Rotary 2023" is inscribed on the fourth side. A BBQ followed the event where the Shelterbox tent was on display. The event was followed with an all clubs BBQ where the Shelterbox Tent was on display.
