Travis Kemnitz, San Diego Audubon Society

San Diego is the most biologically rich county in the U.S. and simultaneously has more animals and plants on the endangered species list than any other county. While we continue to celebrate and enjoy this rich diversity, now is the time to take bold action to protect what remains and address the numerous environmental threats we face. For over 70 years, San Diego Audubon Society has fostered the protection and appreciation of birds, other wildlife, and their habitats, through education and study, and advocated for a cleaner, healthier environment. Travis Kemnitz:
Serving as Executive Director for San Diego Audubon since 2020, Travis leads a team of ecologists, conservationists, land managers, and outdoor educators who deliver innovative, award-winning programs in the areas of outdoor nature education, community-based habitat restoration, endangered species recovery, and community science. Prior to serving in this role, Travis spent 20 years with Ocean Discovery Institute, where he was highly thought of as an inspired leader, educator, and environmental champion. Throughout his service, he has addressed inequities in access to science, conservation education and careers for underserved youth.
