ProduceGood's mission is to build an informed and engaged community committed to finding sustainable solutions to alleviate hunger, reclaim and repurpose waste and promote the health and well-being of all. Our Eco Rotary Club strongly supports this mission any way we can!

ProduceGood is a food recovery non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce waste and hunger while building community. They recover excess produce from orchards, farms, and Farmers Markets in San Diego County.
Their CropSwap (backyard gleaning in small, family groups) and Market Share (Farmers Market food recovery) are two of the few activities that can safely continue during the social distancing restrictions of COVID. Outside, away from others, gleaners can calmly pick fruit from a tree, benefiting not only themselves with fresh air and exercise, but benefiting those less fortunate with their bounty.
Their Market Share Farmers Market food recovery program allows volunteers to collect unsold produce in a safe, socially distant setting, and deliver to one of 42 local receiving food agencies that provide food directly to some of the more than 500,000  men, women, and children throughout the county who are food insecure.

In May 2019, Nita came to our club to present her organization ProduceGood. Since then, our club is supporting them with annual donations and with participation in their activities.

In May and June 2020, some members went to the Flower Fields in Carlsbad to salvage blueberries from a U-pick field that couldn't open. These fruits were then donated to Kitchen For Good.

Since December 2020 our club is collecting unsold produce at the Solana Beach Farmers Market on Sundays. Our members are having a lot of fun while doing good for our community. See some posts on Instagram and the pictures below.
