Tree San Diego
by Tim Lacey

Tim Lacey manages IT, eco-benefit reporting, and mapping functions for Tree San Diego.  Starting in 2015, Tim worked with Tree San Diego to migrate their original Tree Tracker tool, based on open source code.  Tim integrated the tool into the operations of active Calfire tree planting grants, and eventually he implemented an updated system in 2019, based on Plan-It Geo’s Tree Plotter software, to manage projects and maintenance across a number of organizations, including the Balboa Park Convservancy and Urban Corps of San Diego.  In addition to the mapping and operations efforts, Tim oversees the reporting of eco-benefits data for compliance and education purposes with Tree San Diego’s partners.

Tree San Diego is a 50l(c)(3) tax-exempt organization addressing the significant deficit in the San Diego region’s tree canopy, thereby contributing to human and environmental health. They collaborate with governmental, non-profit, and private entities including ones that work for human and environmental sustainability and justice. Their mission is to significantly increase the number and impact of urban trees in San Diego County and beyond–by adding right trees, in right places, for right reasons, with right care, i.e., “Terrific Trees”.
