Ready, Set, Grow San Diego

The City of San Diego Urban Forestry Program was awarded a $10 million grant from the Forest Service, an agency of the USDA for a five-year tree planting program. The goal is to plant 5000 trees and protect 600 existing trees through sidewalk redesigns in the following communities: Bay Terraces, City Heights, Encanto Neighborhoods, Linda Vista, Oak Park, Otay Mesa-Nestor, Paradise Hills.
Karen Valdizno-Amps serves as a Project Officer for the City of San Diego. Her primary focus is community outreach and asset management for trees being planted through our urban forestry initiatives. Her supervisor, Amy Nonaka, who is the Project Officer II for the Ready, Set, Grow San Diego project, will also be in attendance.
