Protect CA Neighborhoods from Toxic Oil Drilling
Abby Deckert & Isabel White

We will learn about the prevalence of neighborhood oil drilling in California along with the health impacts of living near these oil extraction sites. We will also learn about the path of the oil setbacks bill SB 1137, about the referendum and big oil, and finally what we as climate activists can do to keep the law.

Abby Deckert leads the Youth vs. Oil campaign, working to stop oil fracking in California through rallying & advocacy. Abby is 16 and currently a junior at Santana High School where she runs the Climate Action Club aiming to educate their community on the climate crisis. Isabel White is a member of the Youth v. Oil campaign, spearheading the campaign to pass a resolution regarding SB1137 at her local city governments. She is currently 18 and a senior at Canyon Crest Academy. Isabel has participated in numerous local climate rallies, and believes further education and outreach to voters of all ages is crucial in order to ensure a fossil fuel free future.
