Cleantech San Diego and SCEIN
by Alyssa Gutner-Davis

In this presentation, Alyssa Gutner-Davis will provide an overview of Cleantech San Diego and its Southern California Energy Innovation Network (SCEIN) program, which provides free commercialization resources and industry connections for clean energy startups in the region.
The program is the result of a five-year, $5 million grant from the California Energy Commission awarded in 2016 and is designed to help the state better meet its ambitious climate goals. To date, 35 startups have been served by the program. Together, these companies employ more than 172 people and have raised $46.5 million of private capital and $2.2 million of public funding.

As a Program Manager for Cleantech San Diego, Alyssa oversees the Southern California Energy Innovation Network, a California Energy Commission funded-program that provides innovative energy startups in San Diego, Imperial, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties with access to commercialization services. Prior to joining Cleantech San Diego, Alyssa worked as an International Entrepreneur Coordinator for Keiretsu Forum, where she connected US-based entrepreneurs with one of the organization’s angel investor groups located in Bangalore, India. She also served as the Director of International Alliances and Partnerships for USI Accelerator, a company that matches US startups with Indian business partners and customers. Through these positions, Alyssa has worked with several early-stage clean technology companies who ignited her passion for the cleantech sector and sustainable development. Alyssa brings her experience in project management, communications, and business development to Cleantech San Diego’s team. Outside of work, Alyssa serves as Vice Chair of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) of San Diego. She holds a BA in Community Studies from UC Santa Cruz.
