The SD Food Bank will give us a tour highlighting their sustainability initiatives in food recovery, distribution, and environmental practices. Partnered with Feeding San Diego—the region’s leading hunger-relief group—they help address the fact that 31% of food in the U.S. is wasted. By collaborating with over 760 local food donors and more than 50 farms and packing sheds statewide, Feeding San Diego rescues surplus food before it’s discarded. In 2024-2025, 90% of the food they distributed was rescued, reducing landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions. You can learn more about these efforts during the tour and see the facility where it happens.
The tour takes place at 1:30pm, but if you would like to meet for lunch before, please come the California Thai Café at noon. It’s close to the food bank.
