Global Scholarship Awarded
Berkeley Heights Rotary President Michael Kral & Victoria Thomaides
Victoria Thomaides addressing the Berkeley Heights Rotary Club

At the Wednesday, June 12 meeting of the Berkeley Heights Rotary Club a Global Scholarship was awarded.  The recipient of the scholarship was Berkeley Heights resident Victoria Thomaides.  Global grants support large international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes in Rotary’s areas of focus. By working together to respond to real community needs, clubs and districts strengthen their global partnerships.  The required 'areas of focus' are;  Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, Saving mothers and children, Supporting education, Growing local economies, Protecting the environment and Ending polio forever.  Victoria will be traveling to Paris shortly to continue her studies in the area of Promoting World Peace.
Berkeley Heights Block Party
On Sunday, June 9 the Berkeley Heights Rotary Club again participated in the annual Block Party on Springfield Ave.  Participants of the block party were invited to submit their guesses as to how many rubber ducks, lollipops and assorted candies were in a jug.  Massive amounts of guesses were made.  The winner of the guess the number of items in the container is Varsha Jain of Springfield, NJ with a guess of 690. The correct number of items in the container was 686.  Thanks to all that participated!

Hot Diggity Dog
Once again the Rotary Club of Berkeley Heights served hot dogs to the masses at the Annual Memorial Day Parade.  The hot dogs were greatly appreciated by the attendees and participants of the parade.  A good time was had by all!

Summit Speech School Presents to Berkeley Heights Rotary Club
At the most recent lunch meeting of the Berkeley Heights Rotary Club members were afforded the opportunity to learn about the Summit Speech School.  Mr. Ray Dorso, Executive Director of the Summit Speech School made the presentation about the non-profit and let us know everything the school offers to hearing impaired children.  Especially interesting was the technology advances that have been made to assist the children with hearing loss.

Members of the community who are interested in joining the Berkeley Heights Rotary Club are always welcome to attend a lunch meeting and learn about what Rotary does on the local, national and international levels.  Rotary meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 12:15p at Delicious Heights.

Little Flower Church Visits Rotary
At the May 8 meeting of the Rotary Club of Berkeley Heights we had the pleasure of sharing lunch and conversation with Daniel Grossano, Pastoral Associate and Rev. JC Merino, Pastor of the Church of the Little Flower.  During the informal conversation, Rotary members were brought up to date of the goings on at the Church and how the church is involved in the Berkeley Heights Community.
