Hunger In New Jersey
Nov. 28, 2018 12:15 p.m.
The Community FoodBank of NJ, a member of Feeding America, fights hunger across our state by distributing food to more than 1,000 community partners, including local soup kitchens, food pantries, emergency shelters and child and senior feeding programs.
The FoodBank’s hunger relief programs also address the substantial need by delivering after school meals for children, distributing bags of supplemental food for families, and providing job training for people looking for a second chance thru the Food Service Training Academy.
These efforts make an enormous difference for the nearly one million people in NJ who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
A history of the FoodBank, further explanation of these programs, hunger in NJ and Q&A will be presented.

Jan. 09, 2019 12:15 p.m.
This week I am pleased to announce that our 7475 District Governor, John Wilson, will be visiting our Club for lunch. As many of you know, John as DG, visits every Club throughout his term and with the combined Districts that is over 85 clubs. That is a daunting task. So let’s give John a HUGE BERKELEY HEIGHTS WELCOME by attending our meeting this Wednesday. We are welcoming back George Kraemer, who indicated to me recently that he is anxious to return. Looking forward to see you ALL . JR |

Rotary Means Business (RMB) Chapter 67 Committee is inviting district Rotarians to our first official RMB Networking Social from 6PM to 8PM on Thursday, January 17th, 2019 at the Delta Hotel by Marriott, 80 Allen Road, Basking Ridge, hosted by Bernardsville Rotary.
For Rotarians who are looking to expand their business network or connect with other service-driven professionals in the district, RMB is a new value-added initiative which encourages Rotarians to support fellow Rotarians’ businesses and complements the service aspect of Rotary. RMB provides direct access to over 2,000 Rotarians, who abide by the four-way test, in 87 clubs spanning 9 NJ counties. Unlike other networking groups, RMB offers an unparalleled competitive business advantage and personal growth opportunities exclusively for Rotarians.
Attendees are encouraged to bring business cards to exchange and will have the opportunity to give a 20-second elevator pitch at the event. Rotarians are also encouraged to bring guests. A flyer is attached for your distribution. The cost is $20 per person. A light buffet will be served with a cash bar, and door prizes will be drawn. Advance registration and credit card payment are required for all attendees, as capacity is limited to 80.
To register, please Click Here.
(Note: Click “Members” to register. Click “Guests” if you don’t have or don’t know your ClubRunner login and type the name of your club in the “Comments” box.)
RMB events will be held monthly at various locations hosted by area Rotary clubs. Future event dates will be posted on district website. Please direct RMB questions to any of the following RMB Steering Committee members: Chair Jeannie Tsukamoto (Madison), Vice-Chair Art Christensen (Newark), Secretary Mark Hartmann (Skylands), Treasurer Ray Freaney (Madison), Frank Caroselli (Clinton Sunrise), Geoff Close (Morristown), Bill Coleman and Ken Diener (Robbinsville Hamilton), Tony Staynings (Edison), and Al Swider (Bernardsville).
We look forward to seeing you.

Branding with the Written Word
Feb. 13, 2019 12:15 p.m.
I am always looking to make a difference in people’s lives. Writing enables me to do that. I like to write stories that help readers learn more about an issue, raise their awareness or strike a chord. My topics run the gamut. Career, leadership and workplace issues; education; personal finance; health care and wellness; lifestyle; technology; and women’s issues are among the subjects I frequently write about in the media. Most recently I’ve been a regular contributor to Fox Business Network and have written articles that appeared in Entrepreneur.com. Working as a ghostwriter, I’ve also created pieces that have appeared on Huffington Post as well as articles that have been published in several telecommunications trade magazines. I also provided extensive coverage for Silk Purse Women on the workplace, finance, health and lifestyle issues women face. Interviews with subject matter experts—among them entrepreneurs, executives in the corporate world, academics, doctors and medical professionals, lawyers, and human resource professionals—are crucial to my work. Many of these professionals come back to me with story ideas because they have been pleased with my past coverage. I also digest as much background information and research information as I can. This process enables me to ask the right questions and turn out a well-balanced piece. Each story and each beat have helped me gain knowledge in many fields. These perspectives position me well to provide branded content to corporations and career services to individuals in fields such as health, education, law, finance, technology, longevity and aging, and entertainment. |
