The next Barn Gang Luncheon on, Tuesday, April 17th, will feature speaker Alan Pippenger. Alan will be presenting the history of Requarth Lumber. Lunch will be served at 11:00 am followed by the program at 12:00.

Learn to Play Mag Jongg

The Engineer’s Club flourished in the current building starting in 1918 with ever increasing membership and activities during the decades that followed, but most especially during the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s. As it just so happens, that is exactly the same time frame when the game of Mah Jongg was growing in popularity in this country. The evidence for this rapid growth was the opening of Mah Jongg parlors, restaurants, newspaper and magazine articles, songs, music, parties, shops etc., during this same time period. Surely the Wright Family and other prominent members of The Club knew about Mah Jongg (and maybe even played) because it was such a popular leisure activity during these decades, and even into the decades that followed. While these early Dayton Industrialists were constantly thinking, inventing, and doing, they must have had “some” leisure time” for rest, relaxation and companionship. Mah Jongg provides all that and more.

While the game died off quite a bit in popularity during the 1980’s and l990’s; it’s coming back these days with gusto! We have introduced the game of Mah Jongg into The Engineer’s Club on Wednesday’s starting at 11:00 and welcome ALL Club members to come learn this challenging game, enjoy the Club’s delicious lunch buffet service and to have fun. You are on your own for the lunch charge, and there is no charge for the Mah Jongg lessons. You will need to purchase an official National Mah Jongg League playing card that costs either $8 for a small card or $9 for a large version (easier to read text). These cards will be available for purchase.

For the Chef’s Featured Special we will be offering Pasta Caprese.  Three cheese tortellini tossed in a roasted garlic & olive oil sauce, topped with marinated chicken breast, fresh basil, heirloom tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese.

Chef’s Featured Special $19.95

For the Chef’s Featured Special we will be offering Asian Beef Tips. A bed of white rice topped with beef tenderloin tips, sautéed fresh vegetables, and a mild black bean sauce.

Although reservations are not required they are encouraged so we can guarantee a table for you and your family.

Just a reminder that we are open on Thursday for Happy Hour from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.  Stop in and have a drink with fellow members, or bring a group of co-workers.  We are still offering icy cold draft beer on tap, a large selection of bottled beer, top shelf spirits, and a variety of wines.

Just A Reminder. . .

Our Dining Room is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30am until 2:00pm.  Come check out our great new menu which included gourmet sandwiches, fresh salads, seafood, and more!  Along with an extensive salad bar and homemade soups that are available Monday through Friday we offer a double entrée buffet on Wednesday and Thursday.

Each time you dine at the Engineers Club for lunch, we will punch your card. Once you have accumulated nine punches, you'll receive a free lunch. Punch cards are available at the front desk, or feel free to ask your server for one while you're dining.

Just a reminder that any vehicle parked in our parking lot should have an Engineers Club parking sticker in either their front or back window.  In an effort to keep our parking lot available for members and their guests we will be towing any vehicle that does not have a parking sticker.  If you need a temporary parking pass for a guest you can pick one up at the front desk.  If you have any questions please contact Darbie Kincaid at (937) 228-2148 ext 111 or
