Mothers Helping Mothers (MHM) has purchased their building and is expanding operations into additional space within the building - no small effort. Drew Lowther has mobilized the Riverview Key Club to assist MHM Saturday October 5th and asks our Mighty Members to join them, showing support for BOTH our Key Club and MHM. This is an important work session so please add it to your calendar. There is plenty to do so come even if you can't make the 9:00 am start. The MHM retail store is located on the west side of Route 301, just south of University. |

The Downtown Club has invited our Mighty Members to join them for an Inter-Club at lunch a week from Friday, October 18th, at 12 noon. Cost is $16. They meet at the Court Cabaret at the corner of 1st St and Cocoanut. The Court Cabaret is 1 block north of the Florida Studio Theater and is associated with the FST at Palm & Cocoanut.
The scheduled speaker is Col. Kurt Hoffman from The Sarasota Sheriff's Office.

FL District Governor Elect Mary-Lynn Desjarlais is hosting a celebration for two Division Clubs at her home on Old Ranch Road in October. Manasota and East Sarasota Clubs will receive their charters. In addition, Club Officers and Boards will be installed. This is Siesta Key's October Social and a chance to show our support for the newest area Clubs and their leadership
The celebration is on Saturday afternoon​, October 19th - 1:00 - 4:00 pm​. Members, spouses, children and friends are of course welcome. Mary-Lynn has asked for $10 per person donation to help defray food expenses. This is a BYOB ​event.​ |

There really is a Santa and he will be at Abblebee's on December 7th to speak with children of all ages, but especially those children who believe he will visit them December 24th. Santa's breakfast includes eggs juice and sausage, coffee of course for adults.. Children's tickets are $6 Tickets for adults accompanying children are $10. There is no charge for children under 2. There will be worthy gift items for silent aution bid and a "chance aution" including items of interest to children. Santa will draw the winning chance auction tickets making it fare more exciting than when just anyone does it. This is a fun event and also a Foundation fundraiser so members are expected to pitch-in to make the event a success. Riverview Key Clubbers will be with us to assist with table service. |

Pamela will discuss Manasota Legal Aid’s Activities and share a few interesting cases Pamela Fields graduated in 2006 from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport Florida. She opened her own law practice in Sarasota, concentrating in family law issues such as divorce and child support. In June 2009, she joined Legal Aid of Manasota and works in the Venice office. Ms. Fields focus is on foreclosure defense; serving income eligible clients who need legal assistance with foreclosure lawsuits on their personal residences. Her clients are from the Venice, Englewood and North Port area of south Sarasota County. Ms. Fields is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association and is a mentor for the Take Stock in Children program. |

At this time, we are looking at making our Honor Roll Ceremonies for each grade level vs. clustering three grade levels together, so these dates/times will likely be expanded. 12th Judicial Court Therapy Dog Program

The Twelfth Judicial Circuit provides volunteer pet therapy teams for juvenile dependency hearings and delinquency arraignments to provide comfort and emotional support for court participants, and particularly the children going through the court process. The teams – dogs and their human handlers – undergo and pass evaluations and court-related training. Additionally, the handlers undergo and pass criminal background checks, sign oaths of confidentiality, and are required to have pets that are certified as pet therapy animals. Pet therapy teams are identified by their official Twelfth Judicial Circuit ID badge that identifies both handler and pet. The handlers also wear shirts that identifies the handler as a pet therapy team when attending court. Dogs wear the red bandana provided by the court. |

Walter Gilbert will be co-presenter .Vickie has led the initiative Newtown Alive to compile, organize and package the history of Newtown, the historically black neighborhood of Sarasota in which she grew up. “When you see all that power, determination and enterprise in Newtown, I’m proud,” she says. Since receiving a $50,000 grant from the City of Sarasota in 2015, Oldham and a team of professionals and volunteers have produced a book, Newtown Alive: Courage, Dignity and Determination, a 365-page report, installed 15 historical markers, conducted oral history interviews and inventoried 150 historic Newtown structures. She will also talk about the History Museum and Trolley Tours. |

Early language and literacy development begins at birth, and is closely linked to a child's earliest experiences with books and stories.
