Kiwanis Weekly News 6/6/18
There were 22 members in attendance with Les visiting from the Aktion Club. Several Happy Dollars were shared and special occasions recognized. Vern reported a can deposit of $188.80 with the help of Dan and Jack collecting! The Aktion Club met last Monday and will be selling popcorn at the Bell Tower Festival and Farmer's Markets on Tuesday's. Sherry talked about the grilling/food sales for Saturday night at the Bell Tower Beverage Garden from 7-11pm. A sign-up sheet was passed around for workers. President Lautner reported that the club will grill/serve for the Sept. 18th Farmer's Market. Board meeting minutes were unavailable from last Friday's meeting.
Bill Monroe had the program today. He invited Nicole Timmons and Annette Foster to talk about their new daycare opening August 1st. Natural Wonders Learning Center is located at 1512 Westwood Drive and will employ 8-10 people. Timmons says the name of the facility fits their philosophy of providing a natural play-based environment for children from six-weeks-old to school-age. She said that there will be a professional staff to work with the children, while also having a quality play-based curriculum and ample opportunities for children to learn and build in all areas of development. Kiwanis Weekly News 5/30/18
There were 25 members in attendance today with Les visiting from the Aktion Club. Dean McAtee was in attendance with grandson Cameron, a recent Michigan State graduate. Welcome back Dean! Special events and happy dollars were recognized. This was Dan Emmert's last meeting, we wish Dan the best in their move back to eastern Iowa! President Lautner reminded members of the Board Meeting on Friday at Uptown. A can deposit of $51.05 was shared by Sherry. The club will vote on new officers next week at the meeting.
Tim Buenz was the program today. He spoke about the plans for the 10th anniversary Bell Tower Poker Run, Tour Rides, and Cycle show put on by the Greene County Motorcycle Charity. The group has donated $8,000 to the Raccoon Valley Kiwanis Aktion Club over the last 8 years. Tim shared 2017 event pictures and details about the 2018 event to be held on June 9th.
