Kiwanis Weekly News 10/03/18

Today's meeting was called to order by new Club President Tom Heater. There were 24 members attending today with Les visiting from the Aktion Club. Several happy dollars were shared and Vern reported a can deposit of $49.75. The total for the Kiwanis year that ended last week was $5,399. Thanks to Vern and all those who assist with the can depot! Hollie reported that the Aktion Club met last Monday and that they will have officer installation in two weeks. They are also planning an event to celebrate their 10 year anniversary which is on March 11, 2019. Vern updated members on a visit he had with Dean McAtee on the phone last night. There will be a board of directors meeting on Friday at 7:00 am.

There were 23 members in attendance with two visitors. Vern reported a can deposit of $86.55 and mentioned that we are closing in on our goal of $5,000 as the Kiwanis year ends. Hollie reported that the Aktion Club held a memorial gathering for Tom Duncan at 209 Main in Paton. They have also set the date of Sunday, Oct. 28th for their annual Halloween Party.

Today was the annual officer installation ceremony with Don Van Gilder serving as master of ceremonies. New officers and board members were installed by Div. 11 Governor Geri Derner of Ames. Current President Vicky Lautner was recognized and honored by the club for her year of service. New President Tom Heater was also installed as well as new board members, Kathy Pittman, Lisa Kuhl, and Denny Goshon. A full listing of current board members and officers can be found on our website.
