Aktion Club put together 350 Teen Maze Smoking Kits and is also working on Relay for Life and Spring Into Greene events. Reminder that the annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Rec. Center is March 26th and help is appreciated. The Lions Club Pancake Breakfast is Monday, March 14th and they would appreciate our support.

Bill Steussy had the program today. He invited Carrie Wilde, Service Director at Genesis to speak about Recycling. Carrie shared that the Greene County Recycling Agency was formed in 1992 and that they are in need of a new bailer and are in process of writing grants, etc. She invited John Roosa, Environmental Services Officer from Boone County to speak about their landfill.

They operate on a 2.1 million dollar budget and processed 72,000 tons of garbage in 2015. The landfill accepts garbage, construction & demolition wastes, yard waste, tires, scrap metal, appliances, batteries and household and CESQG hazardous waste.  The Landfill serves as the primary disposal facility for all of Boone County (except Sheldahl); Greene County (except the City of Jefferson); the Cities of Bouton, Granger and Woodward in Dallas County; and the Cities of Farnhamville, Lohrville and Somers in Calhoun County. John suggested this video to members. Thanks to Bill, Carrie, and John for a very informative program!
