Weekly Kiwanis News 2/10/16

There were 21 members in attendance today with Les & Mindy visiting from the Aktion Club. Bob reported a can drop deposit of $109.75 for the last few weeks. Linda reported that the Aktion Club had their officer installation and will have a meeting next Monday. President Palmer is looking for at least one more person to interclub to Huxley on Thursday, Feb. 18th for new Ballard Kiwanis Club Charter Night. Teen Maze is April 4-8 with Greene County students attending on April 6th. More information will be forth coming.

Marla Siruta had the program today. She invited Jane Millard, Director of the Jefferson Public Library to speak to us about "Planning for the Future of Our Community Library". The original Carnegie library building was built in Jefferson in 1904 with an addition completed in 1967.

The goals of planning effort are:

-Complete a space/equipment utilization assessment for the existing buildings

-Reassess/redesign the connector building

-Create a reading garden

-Develop a site plan which could include building expansion requirements, and

-Complete a long term plan
