There were 24 members in attendance today with Les visiting from the Aktion Club. Vern reported a can deposit of $105.00.  A motion was made by Bob Schwarzkopf and seconded by Vern to call a voice vote to elect Toni Wetrich as secretary and for Bill Raney to fill her board position. The motion passed. Kathy reported that the Aktion Club is planning to attend an Iowa Cubs game in late August and that Genesis has granted permission to use their bus for transportation. President-Elect Lautner reminded members of the board meeting on Friday at 7:00am.
Vicky Lautner had the program today. She invited Roger Aegerter to speak about the Hometown Team Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit that will be coming to Greene County on August 11-September 23, 2018. Roger spoke about the exhibit and the planning that is underway to host it by Jefferson Matters: Main Street. The Smithsonian’s Hometown Teams traveling exhibition examines the many roles that sports play in American society. Hometown sports are more than just games—they shape our lives and unite us and celebrate who we are as Americans.
More information on the exhibit can be found on their website.
