OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Greene County Medical Center Education Room on January 10, 2025 President Chad Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:01 AM. Board members in attendance were Tim Buenz, Chad Butterfield, Clancy Clawson, Bill Monroe, Mike Palmer, Sherry Palmer, Scott Peterson, Bill Raney, Karen Shannon, James Teush and Loren Turner. Vern Foje was also present. Board members Denny Hammen, Randy Monthei, Kathy Pittman and Larry Teeples were absent.
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS

SECRETARY
A motion was made by Butterfield and seconded by S. Palmer to approve the December board minutes as presented. Motion carried.

TREASURER
Raney shared the December Treasurer’s report. M. Palmer made a motion to approve the report as presented. Turner seconded the motion. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS
A meeting was held with Audrey Hinote to offer support in writing a grant from the Greene County Community Foundation. A final amount from the Salvation Army Bell Ringing was shared, $5,365.18.

NEW BUSINESS
Website Ads - Advertisements have been secured from 8 local businesses, covering most of the website cost. Consideration will be given to raising the fee to $75.

Chicken Dinner - Planning is beginning. Buenz will check prices with Stanley before determining prices in order to print tickets and flyers.

Tree Watering - Peterson shared a need in the city for tree watering based on the increase of new trees to be planted this spring. The 2 year commitment would pay $2,000 per year. Discussion was held regarding the flower watering crew taking on the tree watering with a developed map and schedule. Raney made a motion to provide this service, seconded by Monroe. Motion carried.

Corporate Membership - Discussion was held regarding a business wanting to be a part of Kiwanis but one particular person is not able to attend weekly. The business would pay dues and rotate staff members to attend meetings at least two times per month.
