OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Greene County Medical Center Education Room on February 14, 2025. President Chad Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:01 AM. Board members in attendance were Tim Buenz, Chad Butterfield, Clancy Clawson, Bill Monroe, Sherry Palmer, Scott Peterson, Bill Raney, Karen Shannon, Larry Teeples, and Loren Turner. Vern Foje was also present. Board members Denny Hammen, Randy Monthei, Kathy Pittman, Mike Palmer, and James Teusch were absent.
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS

SECRETARY
A motion was made by Monroe and seconded by Butterfield to approve the January board minutes as presented. Motion carried.
 
TREASURER
Raney shared the January Treasurer’s report. Butterfield made a motion to approve the report as presented. Turner seconded the motion. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS
Audrey Hinote submitted a grant to the Greene County Community Foundation for the Book Vending Machine.
 
Groceries have been ordered for the Chicken Dinner. Ticket sales are being monitored to ensure appropriate amounts of food are available.

NEW BUSINESS
Midwest Missions Request - Midwest Missions requested a letter of support as they are applying for a number of grants to purchase the building they are currently renting. Turner made a motion that the Club would provide a letter of support. Seconded by Monroe. Motion carried.
 
Youth Protection Policies and Procedures Training - Shannon shared an update that all Jefferson Kiwanis members have received the information regarding the YPPPT for this year.

Funding Request - A request was presented from Greene County After Prom Planning Committee seeking support for the upcoming After Prom. A motion was made by Monroe to give $200 to GC After Prom and $100 to Paton-Churdan After Prom. The lesser amount to P-C was due to fewer students attending the P-C event and them not actively seeking funds. Clawson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Corporate Membership - The topic was researched by Buenz, gathering resources and information from Jody Melcher regarding current policies held within the NE/IA District. The topic will be handed off to the Membership Committee.

OTHER ITEMS
All Club members should serve on a committee.
 
Voje shared a flyer from the Bee & Herald in 2017, showcasing Kiwanis. The topic of promoting the work of the Club will be discussed by the Public Relations Committee.
