OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Cafe on June 3, 2016.  President Sherry Palmer called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m.  Roll call was taken.  Jack Fredrickson, Deb Geisler, Kirk Hammer, Tom Heater, Vicky Lautner, Bill Monroe, Mike Palmer, Bob Schwarzkopf, Marla Siruta, and Loren Turner were present.  Dan Benitz, Randy Monthei, and Bob Smith were absent.  Vern Foje was a guest.
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS
 
  • Secretary:
 
A motion was made by Hammer, seconded by Monroe to approve the May board meeting minutes.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
 
  • Treasurer:
 
Bob Schwarzkopf presented the financial report.  A motion was made by Heater and seconded by Turner to approve the financial report as presented.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
 
  • Membership:
 
               October 1, 2015 – 48 members.  The current membership stands at 48.
Dick Pound is currently on leave of absence.  Leave of Absence requests were made by Susan Sanders and Jean Walker.  Fredrickson made a motion to accept the requests for the 4th quarter.  Hammer seconded the motion.  MC
 
OLD BUSINESS
 
  • Officer’s Training – The club will host the Officer’s Training on June 18th.  The training is for presidents, secretaries, treasurers and membership committee members.
 
  • Bell Tower – Sherry will touch base with Mark to make sure everything is on track.
 
  • Farm Progress Show – Andy Webb, Lt. Governor of Division 11, has asked if any of our club members could provide some labor on August 30, 31 and September 1.
 
  • Aktion Club – Bill Monroe suggested the club pay a person to coordinate the group.  He suggested the pay could be equal to the amount of dues for one year. 
 
 
NEW BUSINESS
 
  • County Fair – July 12 – 18.  Tom Heater and Dean Rogers are co-chairs.
 
  • Pancake Breakfast – Sherry will be contacting members to help with the organization of this event.
 
 
  • VICA  – Approximately $160 profit was made at the Open House.  Heater made a motion to give an additional $500 to toward the culinary students for competition.  Fredrickson seconded the motion.  MC
 
  • Silent Auction – Sherry will solicit a new chairperson for the Silent Auction. 
 
  • Spouse’s Get-Together – Sherry made a few suggestions for a Spouse’s Get-Together.  She will ask members at the regular meeting if they are interested.  If so, she will organize.
