Board of Directors Meeting- July

OFFICIAL MINUTES
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Café on July 1, 2016.  President Sherry Palmer called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. Roll call was taken – Dan Benitz, Jack Fredrickson, Tom Heater, Deb Geisler, Bill Monroe, Mike Palmer, Bob Schwarzkopf were present.  Dave Jaskey, Kirk Hammer, Vicky Lautner, Randy Monthei, Bob Smith, Marla Siruta and Loren Turner were absent.  Vern Foje was a guest.
 
OFFICERS REPORTS
     Secretary
     Deb Geisler made a motion and M. Palmer seconded the motion to approve the report.  MC
 
     Treasurer
     There has been a name change of the Activities Account.  It is now known as the SERVICE
     Account as suggested by KI.  A motion was made by Fredrickson and seconded by Monroe
     to approve the report. MC
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
     Membership
     (10/01/15 = 48)  Current membership is 48.  Three members – Dick Pound, Susan Sanders,
     and Jean Walker – are currently on leave of absence.
     A membership packet has been delivered to the new dentist.  An other potential member
     is the photographer.  A packet was sent to Kathi Hoskins last month.
 
OLD BUSINESS
     Bell Tower Update
     The profit to date is $1,701.35.  Approximately $800 of food items have been transferred
     to the county fair account.
 
     Farm Progress Show
     Any club member who would like to work on behalf of  Division 11 will need to contact
     the Lt. Gov. Andy Webb.  The president will help make the contact.
 
     Aktion Club
     There was a discussion about finding a supervisor(s) for the club.  It was suggested that
     Terry Johnson be contacted for people who would be interested.  The club would pay
     the dues for that person(s).
     A back ground check would be required for that position.
 
    County Fair-July 14, 15, 16
    Tom Heater and Dean Rogers are co-chairmen.  The food left over from the BTF will  be
    used at the fair.  The Farmers Market may use some of the frozen leftovers if unused by
    the fair committee.
 
    Pancake Breakfast
    There are four people listed on the committee sign-up sheet who have expressed an interest
     in helping with that activity.
 
     Silent Auction
     President Palmer and Bill Monroe have agreed to co-chair that activity.
 
NEW BUSINESS
     McAtee Tire Request
     Miranda Wahl has made a request to borrow our tables for  use during the 50th
     Anniversary celebration on July 26.
     Motion was made by Benitz, seconded by Geisler to allow the request.  MC
 
     County fair livestock and achievement auction sponsorship
     A motion was made by Benitz, seconded by Heater to pay $ 250 for the club’s share of
     the sponsorship.
