OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Cafe on 3 October 2015.  President Sherry Palmer called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m.  Dan Benitz, Deb Geisler, Tom Heater, David Jaskey, Vicky Lautner, Bill Monroe, Randy Monthei, Bob Schwarzkopf, Marla Siruta and Bob Smith were in attendance.  Jack Fredrickson, Mike Palmer and Loren Turner were absent.  Vern Foje, Denny Goshon, Rick McCollom, and Jean Walker were guests.  
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS                                                                                              
  • Secretary:
A motion was made by Jaskey, seconded by McCollom to approve the August board meeting minutes.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
  • Treasurer:
Schwarzkopf presented the August financial report.  A motion was made by Palmer and seconded by Monroe to approve the financial report as presented.  All approved, none opposed.  MC
 
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
  • Membership:
               October 1, 2015 – 48 members.  The current membership stands at 48. Dick Pound is currently on leave of absence. 
 
OLD BUSINESS
  • Budget Committee – (Administrative) Bob Schwarzkopf presented the budget.  A motion was made by Monroe and seconded by Jaskey to approve the administrative budget as presented with a $20 increase in dues, instead of a $15 increase, to cover the cost of increases in meals and fees set by Kiwanis International.  Two board members opposed.  All others approved.  The motion carried.
  • Activities Budget – A motion was made by Jaskey, seconded by Siruta to approve the Activities budget as presented.  Two board members opposed, all others approved.  The motion carried.
  • Bell Tower Foundation – A motion was made by Monroe and seconded by Jaskey to approve the donation of $2,000 to the Bell Tower Foundation to be used for children to be given free admission to the Bell Tower for 2016.  Kiwanis will be given recognition for this donation. 
  • Silent Auction – Vern and Linda Spearman will help with the transfer of items from the courthouse to the Elks Club. 
 
NEW BUSINESS
  • Officer Installation – October 7th.  Program will start at 6:45 AM.
  • Audit Committee – Sherry will ask Bill Raney and Pat Miller to serve on the audit committee. 
  • Key Leader Camp – Jordan Teeples will attend Key Leader Camp in Ogden.
  • Closet to Closet Donation – Tabled until the November Board Meeting
  • ACCESS Donation – Tabled until the November Board Meeting
The meeting adjourned at 7:55 AM.
