Board of Director's Meeting - March

The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Cafe on March 3, 2017.  President-Elect Vicky Lautner called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. Board members present were Vern Foje, Jack Fredrickson, Deb Geisler, Sherry Palmer, Bob Schwarzkopf, Marla Siruta, Bob Smith, Don Van Gilder and Toni Wetrich.  Dan Benitz, Denny Hammen, Tom Heater, Mike Palmer and Loren Turner were absent.  
A motion was made by Fredrickson, seconded by Foje to approve the February board minutes as written.  All approved.  Motion carried.                            
A motion was made by Smith and seconded by Geisler to approve the club’s financial records for the month of February as presented by Schwarzkopf.  All approved.  Motion carried.
October 1, 2016 the club had 46 members.  The current membership stands at 46.
Leave of Absence:  Angie Healy, John Meyer and Dick Pound
Resignation:  Dick Pound.  A motion was made by Foje, seconded by Smith to approve the resignation request, with regret, from Dick Pound, who has been a member for 29 years. 
TEEN MAZE - The event will be held in Boone on April 3-7.  Jefferson will attend on April 4th.  Volunteers will be needed and members of the club will be asked to donate bars.  Schwarzkopf has sent our $1,000 donation to the event chair.
EASTER EGG HUNT – S. Palmer made a motion to donate 40 Sierra Theatre movie passes to the event.  Wetrich seconded the motion.  All approved.  Motion carried.
ELECTIONS – Smith made a motion to set the Annual Meeting date for May 10, 2017.  Fredrickson seconded the motion.  All approved.  Motion carried.
WEBSITE SONSORSHIP – April 1 is the renewal date.  Schwarzkopf will send out notices at that time.
CHILD PROTECTION POLICY – Geisler made a motion, seconded by S. Palmer, to approve the Child Protection Policy as presented to the board.  All approved.  Motion carried.  The current President and Secretary will sign the document and place in Kiwanis records. 
BELL TOWER FESTIVAL – Mike Palmer and Toni Wetrich will begin planning preparations and will need additional volunteers to assist.  Anyone wanting to help should contact either Mike or Toni.  The event takes place June 9-11, 2017.
GREENE COUNTY COMMUNITY REC CENTER – A request was received to sponsor the brochure.  A motion was made by Foje and seconded by Geisler, to approve $45 for the sponsorship.  All approved.  Motion carried.     
GREENE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL AFTER PROM DONATION REQUEST – A motion was made by Foje, seconded by Smith, to approve a donation of 20 Sierra Theatre Gift Cards.  All approved.  Motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 a.m.
