Board of Director's Meeting ~ June

      *Secretary:

A motion was made by Randy Monthei, seconded by Dennis Goshon to approve the May board meeting minutes.  The motion carried.

      *Treasurer:

Lisa Jaskey presented the financial report. 

      *Membership:

               October 1, 2012 The club had 55 members.  The current membership stands at 55.

Ross Hansen, Harry Hoffman, and Shannon Black are currently on leave of absence. 

An application for membership was received from Pastor Tim Jones.  Randy Monthei made a motion to accept his membership.  It was seconded by Dennis Goshon and carried.

The board discussed the continued absence of Christy Heath.  A motion was made by Sherry Palmer and seconded by Tom Heater to remove her from our membership.

     *Human and Spiritual Values

     *Community Service

Genesis plans to have their 40^th anniversary celebration on Saturday, June 22^nd and would like Kiwanis to grill for them.  The event will be held at Kelso Park.  Randy made a motion to donate $250 towards this event for the purchase of supplies and to grill for them on the 22^nd.  Bob Schwarzkopf seconded the motion and it carried.

Bell Tower Festival Committee:  Mark Bauer gave an update to the board.  Set-up will begin today at 1:00 pm. 

Secretary Election:  Marla Siruta was elected by the current board members and the incoming board members as the Kiwanis secretary for the upcoming 2013-2014 Kiwanis Year.  (Schwarzkopf-Goshon)

Ragbrai:  Randy is working on putting the agenda together for Ragbrai.  He will update the club as he has new information.

Greene County Fair:  Fair is the week of July 10-16^th

Scholarship Committee:  Thank you’s were received by all 4 recipients of the Kiwanis Scholarship.

      *Other business

NE-IA Kiwanis District has asked that each club donate $30 to offset the cost of providing training materials to the incoming President’s and Secretaries.  Tom Heater made a motion, seconded by Dave Jaskey to approve the $30 donation. 

One director position will become vacant at the beginning of the next Kiwanis year when Bob Schwarzkopf assumes the role of Treasurer.  A motion was made by Dennis Goshon and seconded by Randy Monthei to have Lisa Jaskey fill this vacancy.  The motion carried.

Tim Buenz suggested renting a coach to take a group to the District Kiwanis meeting, which will be held at Prairie Meadows in Altoona this year on August 9-10th.  The cost would be approximately $727 for a 47 passenger bus.  Linda thought several of the Aktion Club members would go.  We will get a show of hands from the general membership on who might be interested in attending.  Jodi Melcher is running for Vice-Lt. Governor and would like our support at the meeting. 

The July Board meeting will be held on July 12^th, due to the 5^th being a holiday weekend for some.
