OFFICIAL MINUTES
 
The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson, Iowa met in regular session at the Uptown Cafe on April 7, 2017.  President-Elect Vicky Lautner called the meeting to order at 7:00 a.m. Board members in attendance were Dan Benitz, Vern Foje, Deb Geisler, Denny Hammen, Tom Heater, Bob Schwarzkopf, Marla Siruta, Bob Smith, Don Van Gilder and Toni Wetrich.  Jack Fredrickson, Mike Palmer, Sherry Palmer, Bob Smith and Loren Turner were absent.  
 
OFFICERS’ REPORTS
 
SECRETARY
A motion was made by Heater, seconded by Geisler to approve the March board minutes as written.  All approved.  Motion carried.                            
 
TREASURER
A motion was made by Foje and seconded by Benitz to approve the club’s financial records for the month of March as presented by Schwarzkopf.  All approved.  Motion carried.
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
                         
MEMBERSHIP
October 1, 2016 the club had 46 members.  The current membership stands at 45.
 
Leave of Absence:  Angie Healy and John Meyer
 
Resignation:  Justin Lamaak.  A motion was made by Foje, seconded by Smith to approve the resignation, with regret. 
 
 
OLD BUSINESS
 
ELECTIONS – Mike Palmer has assigned a committee to form a slate of nominations for the board.  The annual meeting is set for May 10, 2017.
 
BELL TOWER FESTIVAL – Mike Palmer and Toni Wetrich will begin planning preparations and will need additional volunteers to assist.  Anyone wanting to help should contact either Mike or Toni.  The event takes place June 9-11, 2017.
 
 
NEW BUSINESS
 
EASTER EGG HUNT – April 15th @ 10 AM.  Volunteers are needed and are to arrive at 9 AM.
NEVADA KIWANIS CLUB 45TH ANNIVERSARY – A motion was made by Foje, seconded by Hammen to approve $50 to be donated to the even for the purchase of a gift for the Lt. Governor.
 
DON JOHNSON MEMORIAL BUILDING – Benitz will talk with Justin Towers and get information on the building improvement costs.  The club will assist with labor, if needed. 
 
BELL TOWER FESTIVAL – Mike Palmer and Toni Wetrich are in the full planning stage and will need additional volunteers to assist.  Anyone wanting to help should contact either Mike or Toni.  The event takes place June 9-11, 2017.
 
PATON FUN DAYS DONATION – A motion was made by Wetrich and seconded by Benitz to donate $50 to the event.  We will sponsor one of the children’s activities.
