  Our president, Hal Brownlee, opened the meeting with the signing of O’Canada and Rotary Grace.           
 We were pleased to welcome Joann Gordon, District Governor, Elaine Thompson and her husband Ed.                                                 
 Announcements       
  • This year our Half Marathon and 5 KM run will be on Sunday September 16, 2018. The donation from Calm Air, Two tickets to Churchill, will be given to the 1st finishers for men and women in the Half Marathon. Second place finishers for both Male and Female will received two tickets anywhere Calm Air flies.
  • Membership Invoices were sent to all members on June 12, 2018.  Several Members still haven’t paid their membership for 2018 -2019 membership fees are now due. This year, we have another payment option, you can pay your Membership Dues by E-transfer by sending your E-Transfer to martinjcoward@gmail.com.
  • Paul Harris invoices were sent to members on July 9, 2018. Paul Harris invoices are now due.
  •  The Bruce Oake Foundation will be having a dinner on August 22, 2018. Don Cherry, Ron Maclean will be in attendance and there will be a performance by Darc’y Oake, Cost per ticket is $300.00 and a tax receipt will be issued for about 75% of the $300. Our club is hoping to get a table for this event. Anyone interested should contact Ted Foreman directly.
  • We have another Major Sponsor thanks to the efforts of Ted Foreman. Midtown Ford has agreed to sponsor the Half Marathon this year for $25,000. Ten thousand to Knowles Centre and fifteen thousand to the Bruce Oake Foundation.

  Guest Speaker:  Our District Governor, Elaine Thompson was introduced by Hal Brownlee. She spoke Clubs determining what their club culture is and try to get new members that would fit our culture. Elaine also talked about how to retain our members is still an issue. She also talked about members making more use of My Rotary that is on the R.I. Website. She has instructions on how to use the My Rotary part of the website. If anyone is interested in receiving these instructions you can contact Elaine directly at elainet@mymts.net            Members who were at the meeting today gave Elaine their e-mail address so they could receive this information. District conference this year will be in Winnipeg at Canad Inns Polar Park May 3 – 5/2019.
