ROTARY CLUB OF FORT GARRY

 

We were pleased to welcome

Ron Miller, president, presided over our meeting today. Thanks to all who attended.

 

Our membership for District 5550 is just over 1100. To maintain our district status we need to have a minimum of 1200 members. We have until the end of July to get our membership up to 1200. Our Rotary plans on having once a week meeting, virtually, to come up and implement a plan that will increase our enrolment. More information will be coming in the next week or so.

 

Fort Richmond Collegiate will be holding their career symposium on April 16, 2026. From 8:50 AM, to Noon. Volunteers will be needed. Our club will be providing the lunch again this year.

 

Rotary Leadership Meeting will be held in Russell March 27 -28th. Our club is looking for a member to attend. If you are interested please contact Ron Miller Directly. Ron will look into attending the Leaser4ship on line.

 

Our District Conference will be held in Neepawa May 8 -9th 2026. Our District Governor has extended an invitation for everyone to attend. Al e-mail was sent to everyone a week or so ago that gave you the website that you should access if you plan on attending.

 

Kathy Cano attended the Presidents' Council meeting on March 7th. Here are the highlights

 

- All clubs are reminded to submit any nominees for the Rotary Award in Excellence in Service to Humanity - non Rotarian, Only one person will be selected for our District. Deadline March 24th.

- Westminster Housing Society project will still be on going thus year. They would clubs to donate $500 even if they cannot participate in the actual work.

- Polo Plus Concert October 24th. at the theatre at the University of St. Boniface. They are looking for all Winnipeg clubs to be involved.

- Paul Harris Dinner for 2026 will be hosted by Charleswood Club, the dinner will be held in the fall. Date to be announced.

- The Transcona Club will be having their big fundraiser "Cabin Fever" on Friday April 17th at Transcona Canad Inn. Ticket price $125.00.

- Charleswood Club will be having their Lobster Fest on Father's Day. Tickers will be $65 for Lobster Dinner and $50 dot the chicken dinner

- West Winnipeg will be celebrating their 75th Anniversary this year. They will be hosting a fun night on March 26th, tickets $20.00.

- Preliminary discussions are being held to resurrect the Goodwill Conference with Minneapolis In May 2027.

 

We have booked St. Vital Park for our Half Marathon and 5 KM fun Run for September 27th. September 26th, Saturday, will be setup day and volunteers will be required to help with the setup.

 

A reminder to all Rotarians - the Rotary Learning Centre is an excellent source of information about Rotary.

 

Our next board meeting will be Monday March 23, 2026 at Rotary Villa.

 

 

Ted McIntosh will be our Sergeant-at-Arms for the rest out our current Rotary year.

 

The weekly accumulator draw was for $7.00, Ron Miller drew the King of Spades and won the draw. Ron asked that we leave the amount on our 50/50 draw.

Until further notice our meetings will be held at Rotary Villa, 528 Hudson Street, Winnipeg, MB. We had a conversation with the school next door and they have agreed that we can park at the school on Mondays when we have our meetings. They have asked that we park in the middle area, as the perimeter parking is for staff.
