We were pleased to welcome
Barry Hartley ran the Zoom meeting today. Thanks to all who attended.
Our January 31, 2022, meeting will be held via Zoom.
Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, will be visiting Winnipeg in early July. A Committee is being put together by all of the Winnipeg Rotary clubs to determine what we will do during Jennifer’s visit. Don Fletcher will be attending a meeting on February 14th. He will provide us with am update after this meeting.
Our sister club in Detroit Lakes will be celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. We will be investigating to see if our Winnipeg clubs can do something with the Detroit lakes club during the spring/summer. Maybe a meeting at the International Peace Gardens.
Discussions took place with regards to increasing our membership with younger members. It was decided that we would take the next six to eight weeks to come up with a plan and then when COVID allows we can implement the plan. Some ideas that came up in the discussion were.
1. Develop a brochure that explains the benefits of Rotary
2. Talk to the members of the Rotaract to see if they would be interested in continuing with Rotary after they graduate from U of M.
3. Talk to businesses in Fort Garry, especially he ones that are being taken over by the younger generation.
4. Re-focus our meetings to make them more interesting for the new members..
5. Find out what would interest new members and try to see if we can accommodate. ETC
