Happy Bucks:
The weekly accumulator draw this week was for $30.00. Jeff Miller drew the Ace of Clubs. Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker, Eduardo da Costa, was introduced by Hal Brownlee. In 2016 Eduardo was selected as a Global Peace Index Ambassador by the Institute for Economics and Peace. He is currently working on a project with the Government of Manitoba to develop a Peace Studies Program for our schools, this will enable our school children to study the benefits of peace. Eduardo wanted to ensure that when this program is introduced to our schools that students would have a place to go for reference material. He found that only the Universities library had this material. He is now working with the public library to come up with a list of books that can be placed with the public libraries. He is hoping to enlist the help of all the Winnipeg Rotaries to help buy these books. He would like the section to be called Winnipeg Peace Rotary Library. Individuals will also be able to donate if they want. The plan is to have the books stamped to say who donated the book to the library. The plan would be for the public library to buy the books because they get a large discount. Once he has the list established he will pass it around to all Winnipeg Rotaries along with the price per book. Hopefully Rotarians and their clubs will be able to donate the required books. Marcel Vermette thanked Eduardo for taking the time to come and speak to us about this very important project.
