Rotary Adventures in Citizenship will resume in 2021 but it will be virtual
Downtown Rotary and Transcona Rotary has invited us to participate in a Virtual workshop via Zoom on February 9th and 11th from 9:30 AM to Noon. Space is limited so you should register as soon as possible. Cost $50.00. Hosted by the Honouring Indigenous Peoples (HIP)committees, with financial support from the Vickar Automotive group. Here you will learn about the true, proud and resilient history of First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples in Canada. Space is limited, so register online at the link below to secure your Zoom chair. Registration deadline is January 29th.
Rotary is doing a speaker series, D5550 evening talk show is on February 4, 2021 at 7:00 PM. Theme: Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution.
The Evening will consist of 3 speakers.
-Rotarian Nabil Oudeh from Ottawa – Resilience: Conflict prevention in a time of crisis.
-Rotarian Debra LeMaistre of the Rotary club of Kenora – Co-Chair- Peace Park and the Peace Pole projects.

The weekly accumulator draw, will be suspended until we resume in-person meetings.
Speaker: Gary Bell, CEO and President of Calm Air was introduce by our President, Hal Brownlee. Gary spoke about the difficult time running their business during COVID. People travelling are only a small percentage of their normal volume( about 20%).
They found that cargo volume has increased. They also worked with their pilots and the Government of Nunavut . With the co-operation of these people they have managed the pandemic with only reducing their staff count by 100. Gary also said that because they serve the North he believes that they will bounce back much faster the Air Canada and West Jet. They are planning on recovery by first quarter next year.

District Conference is scheduled for Melford May 14-15 2021.The theme for this years conference is The Family of Rotary. This conference has been moved to an online conference. More information will be passed on as soon as we receive them
