ROTARY CLUB OF FORT GARRY

We had the first presentation today fr our $5,000 grant. Jairo Vaitara from Transportation and Urban planning give his presentation for improving the movement around the city for Babies, Toddlers and Care Givers.
On Friday November 11. 2022 we will be having a Remembrance Day service, followed by a lunch at Rotary Villa. Everyone is asked to be at Rotary Villa, 528 Hudson Street by 10:30 AM. Our lunch will be catered by Rotary Villa this year. Lunch will cost $20.00.
Over the next two weeks we will be inviting the next two people/groups that we have selected for our $5,000 community grant. After all three groups have made their presentation, the selection committee will select the one to receive our community grant.

The weekly accumulator was held and Ed Baetz drew the Jack of Spades. Total for the draw was $11.00.
Speaker: Jairo Vaitara from Transportation and Urban planning did his presentation for our $5,000 Community Grant today. He spoke about some of the difficulties that Care Givers have in moving their Babies, Toddlers around the city. Some of the things that create problems are;
- Not enough time to cross large intersections before the lights change
-No Priority seating on city buses.
-Side walks in poor repairs or in some case no sidewalks at all
-Poor bicycle infrastructure
He has made a presentation to the city, they have asked him to produce a booklet about the walk ability of our city. He is asking for the community grant to help cover the cost of producing this booklet. Once completed he would then present this to the city again.
Questions were asked on how and when changes would be implemented because this is something the City or Province would have to do.
