Meeting Notes

President David Soper opened the meeting with our land acknowledgement, and the singing of O Canada.

Chair Announcements

Reminder that DLS will take place March 27-29. Attendance can be either in-person or virtual.

District conference will be in Neepawa May 8-9.

Bob forwarded the Stove Teams International annual report for 2024-25. Our club sponsored eight stoves in that period.

Paul Harris

This evening we honoured our Paul Harris recipients.

To start off, Jim Forestell provided a brief background on the Paul Harris recognition.

Recipients

Mandy presented Dave Wiebe with his Paul Harris pin. Dave was honoured at the city-wide dinner in October, but the pins and certificates had not arrived then, so they were presented tonight. Dave was recognized for his work and leadership with Bridge of Hope Ukraine.

Chuck presented Patti Mainville with her pin. Patti was honoured for her work with Rossbrook House, one of our charities. Patti was also recognized at the large dinner in October.

Charles (Chuck) Crocker was recognized for his dedication to the role of Chair of Community Services.

Ed Thompson was recognized for his donations to the Foundation.

Mandy Kwasnica received Paul Harris recognition for her work and leadership with Bridge of Hope Ukraine.

Points for the above recognition were contributed by Dave Morris and Ed Thompson.

It was a lovely evening and we were pleased to honour such worthy people.

Sarges Corner

Sarge Mike introduced our guests, Dave Wiebe and his wife Carol; Patti Mainville and her partner Lance.

Happy Bucks

  • Chuck was happy to see Mandy back.
  • Rod celebrated his birthday Thursday, his last day of work Friday, and his first day of retirement today.
  • President David did 37 pushups this morning. When he started training just over a year ago he could do zero. After two or three months he could do zero. Then it started to come and he made it to twenty-five. Now thirty-seven. And soon it will be fifty.
  • Ed Toews was happy to have his successful cataract surgery over.
  • Dave M. was happy that Cathy donated her recent 50/50 pot to Polio Plus.

Next week

Liz Coffman will speak about Forests and Poetry.
