President David opened the meeting with our land acknowledgement, and the singing of O Canada.

David introduced Lily Sawyer, an Ed Werbowski Memorial Scholarship recipient from Oak Park High School. Lily told us a bit about herself and how she's excited to use her experience gained at Oak Park as she studies Civil Engineering with an interest in Water Resources at McGill University. She scored 2nd highest average in her senior year while playing hockey, basketball and soccer for her school. Lily's older sister Kate was awarded the same Ed Werbowski scholarship four years ago and is currently doing a Masters at the  University of Ottawa.

Our outgoing exchange student Adelle has arrived home safely. She will be visiting our club 10 August to make her presentation.

Dave Morris reminded us to keep an eye out for empty beer bottles and cans as we go about our summer activities.

Congratulations, Gary McCracken, CD!

Gary completed his Road to Valour bike ride from Vancouver to Winnipeg on time, arriving at the Valour Road Commemorative Plaza at noon on July 1, 2026. Charleswood Rotary Club member, Dawn Hanson, was among the crowd of supporters there to greet him.

To raise awareness of mental disorders and to support Wounded Warriors Canada, Garry biked 2,500 km, crossing four provinces, in 42 days. You can donate to this worthy cause at theroadtovalour.ca.

• Jim was happy that Lobster fest is over for another year and thanked everyone. We should see a $20K profit.
• Bernard is thrilled with Canada's performance at the World Cup.
• Ed Thompsom received a letter from Revenue Canada, and for once it was good news: money back.
• Ed Toews liked the Bomber win.
• Chuck got to his cabin after a month away and was also pleased with the lobster dinner.
• Dave was happy to be out of hospital and passes along a hello from Nancy.
• Lyle was recently on a trip to Thompson and managed to get some fishing in.
• Alan will be at his cottage for the month of July where the whole family will be visiting.
