Portage Rotary Club made a significant donation to the PCU Centre on Feb. 3 by giving $32,000 for the centre.

This is the latest contribution that Rotary Club has made to the facility as part of its capital campaign support.

"This is our second installment to the City for the PCU Centre," said Brad Poole, president of Portage Rotary Club. "Our commitment is over five years as a club. Obviously, it's a large sum of money. We are on target to be done with our commitment in a four -year time period."

Rotary's commitment to the PCU Centre is for $125,000 in total. So far, it has contributed about $60,000, which includes the $32,000 grant it made on Friday.

As part of the capital cost campaign, for its financial pledge to the PCU Centre project, Rotary received naming rights to the main-floor grand hall/atrium and the Rotary multi-purpose room at the PCU Centre.

Jennifer Sarna, executive director with Portage Regional Recreation Authority, said the funding will help Rotary honour its original financial pledge to the PCU Centre.

“We are really excited. It is definitely a worthy community project to support,” she said. “It is nice to know the Rotary recognized the contributions the centre has to the community. We are really excited to see and receive the donation. This is towards the original contribution to the capital campaign, so this is going towards the centre and its original fundraising stages.”
