Ben Illes was at the door, Ray Higgs was chairman and Ian Mayberry was Sergeant. We had apologies from Graeme Isaacson and Paul Seymour.

President Mario Fairlie welcomed our guest speaker Manuela Boyle (see separate article), visitors Dr Graham Sivyer (Rotary Club of Broadbeach), Yasushi Odahara, a Rotarian all the way from Bangkok, Thailand, and Valeria Higgs (Ray's partner), whose sister had greatly benefited from Manuela Boyle's therapy and treatment.

Mario expressed his appreciation to all the hosts and helpers who made the weekend's hosting of the Rotary Friendship Exchange team from Seattle and British Columbia such a success (see last week's bulletin and website). Mario reported on a recent meeting he had with Dr Graham Sivyer (RC of Broadbeach) and Dr Denis O'Brien (RC of Broadwater Southport) in relation to the X-Ray Unit for the hospital onPentecost Island, Vanuatu. He also elaborated on the 'POD' for homeless people, now renamed 'Sleeping Sanctuary'. Councillor Dawn Crichlow will meet us at the Project Shed.

The Rotary Club of Broadbeach will host the RFE team on Tuesday 12th November at their usual club meeting at the Lone Star Tavern. The also will have a 'Farewell Barbeque' at their shed in Hinze Street, Southport on Friday 15th November, at which the upcoming Vanuatu project will be displayed.

Charles Thomasson outlined details of the upcoming Golf Day on Monday, 25th November (see separate article): other than helpers on the day, we need a few more players. In particular corporate teams who sponsor a hole (that makes it tax deductible) should be attracted. And whilst we already have a few (including a BMW for a weekend) see if you can organize a few raffle prizes!

Doug Lipp advised that we had received a donation of $1,000 from the Australasian Order of Old Bastards - the proceeds of a bottle of Grange Hermitage Mario donated to their auction.  Thank you Mario!
