Hello from iFeed in Wisconsin!

The iFeed project is a collaboration of seven La Crosse area high school Interact Clubs (Aquinas, Caledonia, Central, Holmen, Logan, Onalaska, and West Salem). In one day the hope is to collect 50,000 non-perishable food items that will go to local food pantries AND to package 60,000 dried meals that will be shipped to Nicaragua for hungry children there.

2016 Food Drive Goal - 50,000 Non-Perishable Food Items

This is accomplished by asking businesses, schools, churches, community groups, and neighborhoods to organize a food drive before November 5, run it their way, and then bring their food collection to Logan High School in La Crosse on Saturday, November 5 (the day of iFeed) from 8am to Noon.

The item count in 2015 was 30,212 items - nearly 13 tons of food were gathered. So this year we are shooting for 50,000 food items - will you help us reach our goal?

Food Packing at Logan High School - 60,000 Dried Meals

To pack 60,000 dried meals, these seven Interact Clubs collected $10,000 in donations. The money, through the Kids Against Hunger organization, pays for the rice, soy, and other ingredients needed to package the meals in an assembly line fashion. On the day of iFeed, over 288 volunteers will work to reach the goal of 60,000 meals packed. Much of the $10,000 came from our area’s very supportive Rotary Clubs, however, all seven Interact Clubs made a club donation to reach the amount needed.

Making iFeed Day a Regionwide, Statewide, Nationwide, and International Food Drive Day

This year, we are trying to extend iFeed outside of the La Crosse area. We ask that you consider having your own food drive, in your own community and donate your collection to your own food pantry. Help the hungry in your neighborhood. BEFORE you drop off your food, take a photo or a short video of your group with your collection. Say a quick hello, where you are from, the number of items you collected and end with “We are iFeed.” Send your photos and videos to Keith Lease at leasek@westerntc.edu.

Connect with iFeed by liking our Facebook page, and visiting our website.

Join us in making the first Saturday of November a day to help the hungry our communities!
