Highlights of the January 26, 2016 Meeting

On a warm Chinook day, in true Rotary style, the Head Table entered the Alberta Room to the theme from Indian Jones. After opening remarks from Sid Mark, the meeting sang O Canada accompanied by Michael Pierson and Manon Mitchell. Rick Erven gave the Invocation which reminded us all of our commitment to the values of Rotary.
Michelle DeCecco, as Youth Director overseas all youth programs and youth committees within the Rotary Club. With opening comments about the history of the Stay in School Committee, Michelle gave a warm introduction to Sean Baylis, our new Program Chair.

Garth and Ann Toombs visited Uganda at the end of October for a post project evaluation of the TRACC project by the Cadre of Technical Advisors of the Rotary Foundation. TRACC (Taking Rotary Assistance to Communities and Children) started in 2006 and was completed in 2015. In all about $1 million was spent on helping AIDS orphans surviving in child-headed homes, and on AIDS impacted adults through micro-credit. There were many sub-projects.
On January 27, 2016, Rotary Club of Calgary member Sean Baylis hosted clients, friends, and fellow Rotarians to a discussion on the economy by RBC's Jim Allworth, and to make a donation to Calgary Rotary Challenger Park, Centre for All Abilities capital campaign.
