Highlights of the December 8, 2015 Meeting

Before reporting on this week’s meeting, I forgot to report on one item last week.

Give to Grow is a new initiative of the Calgary Public Library that seeks to engage small businesses, individuals, and service organization in promoting the importance of early childhood literacy and are also invited to donate to support four cause organizations making a difference for Calgary's children. Proceeds raised are pooled and distributed equally to support Calgary Public Library, Calgary Reads, CanLearn Society, and Further Education Society. Can you Cylce in Cowboy Boots?

Okay, so no one asked this question but someone should have given that this week’s speakers brought the history of two of Calgary’s iconic brands – Bow Cycle and Lammle’s Western Wear. Once again this week, Chris Day interviewed two Calgary business owners to help us all learn more about what is working and what isn’t. Barry Lammle and his brother founded Lammle’s western Wear over 30 years ago while Bow Cycle started almost 60 years ago. Both are well known specialty retail operations. While Bow Cycle operates from one location, Lammle’s has 47 store in Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan.
