Thank you to COG Sponsor Rotarian Ian Viner and Superior Paint & Body and Economy Glass
Highlights from the meeting September 1, 2015
By Barbara Burggraf
President Rob Brookwell called the meeting to order and thanked the volunteers and COG sponsor Rotarian Ian Viner, Superior Paint and Body Service and Economy Glass. Michael Pierson and Manon Mitchell played a duet version of Oh Canada that inspired us to greater heights. Dan Pigeon gave a thought provoking invocation and Eric Bennett introduced 14 special guests. Eric announced lots of very special Rotarian birthdays.
Ghada Alatrash did an admirable job introducing the speaker from Elizabeth Fry Society, Executive Director, Katelyn Lucas. The Elizabeth Fry Society of Calgary (EFry) was incorporated in December 1965. The focus is to provide support to women who are in conflict with the legal system. In this regard, EFry is a niche organization in Calgary, specializing in providing support and visitation to women in correctional settings as well as community-based women. Over the years their programs and client base have expanded to include specialized services in related areas of the legal system.
