Dean Gjertsen, Chair of the Adult Literacy Committee, presented 12 students with Rotary Literacy Bursaries at the Bow Valley College Awards Ceremony on November 28, 2013.  The Rotary Club of Calgary supports adult literacy through Rotary Literacy Bursaries, the Adult Basic Literacy Education Program (ABLE) and the Speech Assisted Reading and Writing Program (SARAW). 
 
Rotary Literacy Bursaries are granted to students studying at a grade 1 – 9 level.  ABLE supports students with physical or developmental disabilities studying at a grade 2 -4 level.  SARAW uses award winning specialty software that helps adults with disabilities improve their reading, writing and math skills at a grade 1 – 6 level.
