The Rotary Club of Calgary and Bow Valley College established a relationship in 1999, undertaking projects that target the improvement of adult literacy. Since this time our Club has committed over $200,000 which has supported a number of literacy initiatives at the College. Our Club’s Literacy Scholarships reward students for their hard work and dedication to their studies and provides adult learners with a pathway to improving their lives. Our funds provided relief not only in the moment but continued to have lasting effects long past the initial disbursement.

The scholarships and bursaries play a crucial role in a student’s life as evidenced by the words of thanks offered by the recipients of the The Rotary Club of Calgary MacEachern Bursaries in the Impact Report. Also in the Impact Report are examples of how our Club’s gift provided the hand up needed to elevate these students lives and allow them to continue contributing to the community. Thank you to Allan McMillan for chairing the Adult Literacy Committee and Lorne Larson and Walter Chayka for their dedicated efforts in addressing adult literacy in our community.
