Sid is the Director of the Youth Programs of the Rotary Club of Calgary. Sid joined FRIDAY Professional Group after a short 23 years in the financial services industry. He was born and raised in Saskatchewan and came to the Calgary business community in 1994 after spending 8 years in Edmonton. The entrepreneurial transition to the staffing industry has been rewarding and simply put, it is a people business! “I feel blessed” to join a team of professionals who are passionate about helping people on a daily basis. They work hard and earn the trust of clients who allow us to assist with their staffing and recruitment needs for their present and future success. Sid is a Rotarian and enjoys playing golf and hockey with his network of friends and business associates. |

Fred Stenson has published seventeen books and written scripts for over 150 films and videos. He is a two-time winner of the Grant MacEwan Author’s Prize for his novels The Trade and Lightning. The Trade was a finalist for the 2000 Giller Award. His last novel The Great Karoo was a finalist for the 2008 Governor General’s Award for Fiction. Stenson’s non-fiction titles include: Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park: Grass, Hills and History; Waterton: Brush and Pen; Thing Feigned or Imagined; The RCMP March West; and The Story of Calgary. He has been a regular columnist for Alberta Views magazine since 1999. He directs the Wired Writing Studio at The Banff Centre. Born in the Pincher Creek area of Alberta, Fred has lived in or near Calgary for over forty years. |

According to a February 2012 Conference Board of Canada report, the electricity sector across Canada is expected to invest close to $350 billion over the next 20 years to maintain existing assets and meet growing demand. Jim R. Burpee, President & CEO of the Canadian Electricity Association, will focus his remarks on the sector’s vision for renewing the electricity system while continuing to deliver maximum value and contributing to a low carbon, environmentally-responsible economy.”

Premier Alison Redford appointed Thomas Lukaszuk Deputy Premier on May 8, 2012, and in July named him as Ministerial Liaison to the Canadian Forces. On February 4, 2013 he was appointed as Minister of Enterprise and Advanced Education. In July 2013, he was named one of the 50 most influential Albertans for having “proven himself to be one of the most capable and influential members” of the government. In a cabinet shuffle on December 6, 2013, he was replaced as Deputy Premier by Dave Hancock, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Education, and given responsibility for a new ministry of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour. |

Todd Hirsch, the Chief Economist from ATB will speak to the current state of affairs. For over 20 years he's worked as an economist at several different companies including Canadian Pacific Railway, the Canada West Foundation, and the Bank of Canada. (For almost a decade, Todd taught economics at the University of Calgary.)
Todd regularly provides economic commentary for CBC, CTV, The Globe and Mail, and other local and national news outlets. In 2011, he was recognized as one of Alberta's 50 Most Influential People by Alberta Venture magazine. |
