Dear Fellow OWR Members,
I hope that you are well since I have “seen” all of you.
In the last week of January, I was in Zell am See, Austria with ISFR – International Ski Fellowship of Rotary. This was my first attendance at a Rotary fellowship event such as this and I loved it. I loved the fact that there were over 15 countries represented. I loved that there were at least 100-150 people of attendance. I loved that we have bonded over our similarities such as being Rotarian and enjoying this sport, and I loved the fact that our differences like our cultures and prejudices were long forgotten. I have posted some of the pictures in the workplace. But I would like to share these with you here as well:
The first month of 2020 has been long and hard, it has brought many hardships throughout the world too. In my home country, we have been experiencing a series of earthquakes, each one not any smaller than 4 on the scale, and the one that hit middle of Turkey caused 15 casualties, many injured and lots of damages on properties. We are also facing a rough winter, just this morning there was an avalanche that hit a bus on the inter-cities road, and there were also casualties. All of which reminds us, we need to take care of ourselves first and then those that are closest to us. We need to help out in any way that we can and make the best of what we have, together.
I am very sorry to have missed one of our fellowship assemblies that took place on the first weekend of February. I hope it was nice and pleasant for all of you. I do hope to see more of you at these events, as soon we will be switching to this type of meetings for our programs.
