Friends Forever come visit on October 25th --

Our 4th annual World's Greatest Meal to Help End Polio on Saturday, October 29 at Rock N Bowl in New Orleans.  We are joining with some of the New Orleans area clubs to raise money for what we hope is the final push to eradicate polio from the planet.  Polio Plus is a Rotary initiative begun in the 1980s when childhood polio crippled and killed children all around the world.  Thanks to the efforts of individual Rotarians and matching grants and innovative community, corporate, and government partnerships, Rotarians have eradicated endemic polio from all but 2 of the world's countries.  A remarkable achievement.  Come help us -- "We are THIS Close" to preventing this disease from devastating any more lives.

Our annual fundraising luncheon for Covington Rotary's Feeding the Needy Project, now well into its second decade.  The luncheon will be held on Tuesday, November 22 and will feature The Governor of the Great State of Louisiana John Bel Edwards.  In the past 4 years alone, this project has rallied over 1500 community volunteers and distributed over 5,500 complete Christmas meal boxes (12-14 pound turkey plus 5 sides) to help ensure that nearly 18,000 people have not just a Christmas dinner, but plenty of extras to help feed the children during the long period when the school cafeterias are closed.  The Covington Food Bank considers our project to fill a critical need for families in our community.

Imagine what we could achieve with even more members.  If just a couple of Rotarians had the idea to eradicate polio from the planet and another couple local Rotarians had the idea to eradicate hunger among our children at Christmas time...what else can we conceive and accomplish?  We hope you will bring your ideas and talents and resources and join us.
