Covington/Amite Rotary Work Day: Saturday, September 10 8am - approx 3pm (some people may stay longer or leave earlier depending upon the work that needs doing). Meet at the Target in Covington at I-12 & Hwy 21 at 8am. We will be joined by Rotaractors from New Orleans who will need to carpool. If you have a TRUCK please drive it. The bulk of the work will be distributing needed items to residents in the general area of Amite and Loranger. There may still be some physical work in peoples' homes; Amite Rotary is determining the work list. We will also support the activities of Operation Louisiana Strong. Please wear closed-toed shoes or boots, a Rotary shirt, and bring gloves and whatever you need as a self-contained unit. We are going into an area with few resources, so it's best to bring whatever you will need. Covington Rotary will provide lunch at a central location. We will also have bottled water but encourage everyone to bring their own, too, and to stay hydrated. It will be hot! IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU RSVP so that our partners can determine the work for the day. This is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC so you can also share this with friends and non-Rotarians...the idea is to provide as much assistance as we can so don't keep this a secret. Please also share this link to the Covington Rotary Foundation via gofundme.com/covrotary

4th Annual Covington Rotary Club World's Greatest Meal to Help End Polio Be a part of this global movement to get through the FINAL PUSH to end polio worldwide. The polio eradication effort was begun by an handful of Rotarians back in the 1980s...since that time, national governments, international agencies, private foundations, and individual Rotarians have joined the cause. People under the age of 50 in the US have likely never seen anyone with polio, so we are no longer aware of the devastation of this easily-preventable disease. Please join us on October 29 -- every dollar raised is matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and then again leveraged through the Polio Plus campaign of Rotary International. $30 adults in advance; $25 children 6-20; under 6 yrs free. $35 for everyone at the door. Bowling, shoe rental, food and drinks included. We will also have door prizes and "polio shots" for sale. This is a fundraiser but also a FUN-raiser. Friends, family, Interactors, Rotaractors, and Rotarians are all invited. Spread the Word -- Share this invitation -- we are THIS CLOSE to eradicating polio worldwide. With your help and enthusiasm, we can rid the planet of this crippling disease. |
