4th Annual Covington Rotary Club World's Greatest Meal to Help End Polio Be a part of this global movement to get through the FINAL PUSH to end polio worldwide. The polio eradication effort was begun by an handful of Rotarians back in the 1980s...since that time, national governments, international agencies, private foundations, and individual Rotarians have joined the cause. People under the age of 50 in the US have likely never seen anyone with polio, so we are no longer aware of the devastation of this easily-preventable disease. Please join us on October 29 -- every dollar raised is matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and then again leveraged through the Polio Plus campaign of Rotary International. $30 adults in advance; $25 children 6-20; under 6 yrs free. $35 for everyone at the door. Bowling, shoe rental, food and drinks included. We will also have door prizes and "polio shots" for sale. This is a fundraiser but also a FUN-raiser. Friends, family, Interactors, Rotaractors, and Rotarians are all invited. Spread the Word -- Share this invitation -- we are THIS CLOSE to eradicating polio worldwide. With your help and enthusiasm, we can rid the planet of this crippling disease. |

For Rotary's 100 Days of Service, we are asking ALL CLUB MEMBERS to participate in our ongoing efforts to help rebuild and address the needs of our neighbors in Tangipahoa and St Helena Parishes.
We have arranged for three formal work days to replenish the pantry at the Loranger Distribution center. Clean out your own pantry, ask your family, friends and neighbors to contribute. Between work dates, items can be brought to club meetings or to President Elect Cindy Petry's office at 510 N. Jefferson St. Covington, LA -- phone (985) 871-1110.
Please RSVP for one of the work days and sign up friends and family. Call a member of our club you haven't seen a while and make arrangements to work side by side. Service and fellowship go hand in hand and will not only assist our neighbors but also strengthen our Club. The address for the distribution center: 54418 Hwy 1062 Loranger ,LA 70446

SAVE THE DATE!!! QUACK 2017!!! We will need all hands on deck to sell $20 ducks and raise this year's goal of $40,000 to support community recreation and clean water on the Northshore and beyond. Our major recipients this year will once again be Miracle League Northshore, Keep Covington Beautiful, and Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation to promote water quality, water recreation, and family recreation. We are also looking for sponsors to cover the hard costs of the event and the prizes for the top 10 ducks -- $1500 cash prize plus locally-produced prizes for the next 9. Sponsorships are being sought at the $2500, $1000, $500 and $250 level in addition to the outright purchase of $20 ducks in the race. The Quack Committee will be giving updates at every club meeting and hold regular planning meetings. Join in and start cultivating contacts in the community who will help this very fun project and great cause. |
